A few months ago, HI-COM felt it was time to start exploring the world of livestreaming. In China, live streaming is an important element of every influencer’s toolbox, which they use to sell products or entertain their Chinese consumers and fans.

As we are based in China, livestreaming was for us a new way to explore Chinese social media and reach out to other professionals, especially foreigners based here. The aim is not to focus on one particular field of industry, but instead explore various professions and activities from sport, to animals or even magic.

Our live stream program and community goes under the name of “HI LIVE”, billed as an independent live stream-based community for international professionals and expats living and working in China. A New live show with special guests is broadcast from HI-COM’s Shanghai Headquarters every Monday night.

Launched in July 2020, the primary aim of HI LIVE is to bring together international professionals and expats living and working in China and give them a platform on which they can talk live online about their experiences of living and working in China, and also promote their business and social activities. They can also discuss their activities with other members of the community in the popular HI-LIVE Community WeChat groups. The weekly live show is currently broadcast on the Yizhibo platform every Monday evening, and in its first four months, has already covered an extremely wide range of topics relating to expats and their lives in China, such as pet care, gaming, boxing, kids’ football, health, fitness, personal development, and jewellery.

We are honoured to help our friends at Xiersen, an ambassador of special needs community, by translating educational materials that will be used for training parents, caretakers, and special education professionals. In times like these, let’s not forget to help each other, especially our vulnerable members of society.

Established in 2014, Xiersen Children’s Center is an officially-registered Chinese non-profit organization, whose mission is to “Improve the condition of Special Education in China”. Xiersen was founded by special education professionals and advocates who saw the need for a sustainable approach for servicing children and families in China. Xiersen supports the Special Needs community by creating awareness and providing training to parents, caretakers, and special education professionals.

We were honoured to support the French National Day celebrations in Hangzhou on July 11, organised by Aeroluxus. The event was attended by the Consul General of France in Shanghai, Benoît Guidée, and the Hangzhou Municipality was represented by the Director of the Foreign Office. Some of France and China’s most successful entrepreneurs also attended.

This is the first time HI-COM has supported the French celebrations in Hangzhou, and it was a great pleasure to take a part in this marvelous event.

2019 has been a big year for China and France as it marks 55 years of established diplomatic relations between the two nations. ‘The China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City project’ has hosted a number of French theme events throughout the year to celebrate the unity of these two countries. 2019 has become to be known as the ‘French Year’ by The China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City project. On the 9th of December ‘The China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City’ project unveiled ‘The French Business Service Center’ concluding the French Year. The event was attended by many guests including Ms. Siv Leng Chhuor – Consul General of France in Guangzhou, Mr Chua Teng Hoe – Consul General of Singapore in Guangzhou and Mr. André Sobral Cordeiro – Consul General of Portugal in Guangzhou.

The Knowledge City project announced they had set up the ‘French Business Service Centre’ to work with French companies. This will give French companies an opportunity to invest in the growing Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau greater bay area. The French Business Center will promote and create more innovative businesses for the thriving area.

Diana Pet Food is a company that has developed rapidly. Its success is a story of consistent pioneering within the pet food industry. With origins in a French family milling company that diversified into livestock and animal feed in the 1950s (the Guyomarc’h Group), it has emerged at the forefront of the pet food industry through a series of key steps, including particular highlights.

Conference Interpreting or Simultaneous Interpreting is where the interpreter listens to the speaker and delivers the translation in real time – at the same rate of delivery as the speaker – to the audience.  It is a mode of interpretation commonly deployed at conferences, seminars or forums where the interpreters will typically be situated in a discreet booth, wearing microphones and headsets, with a direct link to the speaker’s microphone, and a link to the headsets worn by the audience to receive the real-time translation.

For this event, we dispatched two of our experienced English – Chinese Conference Interpreters to provide their services on-site to around 100 people.

HI-COM is pleased to have participated as a sponsor in the celebration of July 14 at the Consulate General of France in Guangzhou.

The French National Day on July 14th is a special date for the French. Indeed, on this day the French commemorate the taking of the Bastille which took place on July 14, 1789 and which is the symbol of the end of the absolute monarchy, as well as the Feast of the Federation of 1790, symbol of the union of the Nation.

The reception for the French National Day organized by the Consulate General of France in Guangzhou took place in the Grand Ballroom of the Grand Hyatt on Friday July 12 from 17:30 to 20:00.

Around 600 people were invited to attend the event, including 80 representatives from Guangdong province.

The Consul General of France in Guangzhou, Mrs. Siv-Leng Chuuor, gave a 10-minute speech praising the merits of Franco-Chinese economic and cultural exchanges, as well as France’s influence.

The representative of Guangdong Province, Mr. Li Chunshen, Deputy Governor of Guangdong Province (广东省副长 李春生先生), also made a speech.

Mrs. Xingxiang, Deputy Secretary General of Guangzhou Municipality (广州市政府副秘书长 邢翔女士), along with the two personalities above, proposed a Chinese toast with the 80 officials lined up in front of the stage.

Guests had access to Champagne, French wines and old Bas Armagnac vintages, all accompanied with French music.
